CAN GOD BE COMPREHENDED?
First we need to define the word "comprehend" which simply means to fully perceive. or take in with the mind. That is the definition in spatio-temporal terms, because the things to be perceived or taken in, are spatio-temporal things. But God is not a spatio-temporal being, so no one can say it is proper to use spatio-temporal mechanisms, such as the mind, to comprehend spiritual and eternal things. It would be like using a microscope to examine infinite love, or infinite justice.
But be that as it may, let us use spatio-temporal examples to clarify the point. None of us can comprehend (take in with our minds) all the water on earth and beyond. Yet we can comprehend the taste, color, coolness and wetness of water. We can understand how it affects our body's health and growth, and how without it, we would die. We can comprehend quite abit about water. What more do we need to comprehend about water as far as it keeping us alive is concerned? Consequently, we cannot absorb all the water in the world because our capacity to do so is limited. Neither can we absorb God's infinite spirit (His infinitude), because our capacity to do so is limited.
However, we can comprehend a lot more about God than we can comprehend about water. We can comprehend how God's spirit keeps us spiritually alive, for without it, our souls would die. We can comprehend how our virtues are the result of God's spirit within us, and that our vices are the result of the lack of God's spirit within us. Consequently, just as we rely on water for our bodies to remain healthy and alive, we rely on God's spirit to remain spiritually healthy and spiritually alive, whether or not we recognize these needs. We can say we don't need water to stay alive, and we can say we don't need God's spirit to stay alive. We can say it, but it does not alter the reality of these needs. So with God's spirit we become spiritually healthy and spiritually alive, without God's spirit we experience moral decay and spiritual death.
Today's "high priests" will try to tell you that you cannot comprehend God in this life because we are finite beings and God is infinite, so forget about it. They want you to take their word for it. According to them, you will comprehend God only after you die. FALSE! After you die, God will still be infinite and we will still be finite. HELLOOOOOOOOO ! Anybody home?
The answer therefore, to the question: "Can God be comprehended?" is YES - in this life most especially - as well as, in the next. The reason we must comprehend God in this life most especially, is because only in this life is our will active. When we die, our will is passive and then - it will be too late.
By comprehending God, we mean, spiritually drinking, and tasting His spirit, while at the same time allowing it to refresh OUR spirit (our soul) - and as a plant that is fed water will grow - so too will our soul grow and grow and grow.
Today's false theologians and preachers think they have all the answers concerning God's nature and God's relationship with His creatures. JUST THE OPPOSITE is true! They condemn themselves with their own words, from what I have just explained.
Use your will while it is still active:
TO STRIVE, TO SEEK, AND FIND - THE ONE TRUE GOD
AND NOT TO YIELD
to the teachings of false theologians and preachers, who are instruments of their own self-inflating egos.
May God surround us with His infinite light and love,
